Descriptions

Why Personalized Learning? Everyone has a “Why”. Do you know yours? 2020 certainly has made many of us rethink our “Why”. Teachers may be asking themselves if they want to continue in the profession. Learners may be wondering how they can make this work. Now more than ever, remembering our “Why” behind what we do is imperative. In this module discover the motivation behind building an equitable student-centered learning environment and how personalized learning practices support that vision.
Explore the “What” And The “Why” Behind Competencies This introduction will showcase the “what” and the “why” behind the PSCG competencies and their place in the SC Framework for PCBL. During this learning experience you will explore a competency of interest, engage in a scavenger hunt to better understand the structure of a competency, and learn some quick tips to getting started. You’ll find opportunities to explore the “how” embedded throughout the rest of the Framework Foundation Series!
Who is Driving the Learning in Your Classroom? (Student Ownership) Have you ever asked yourself why you are so exhausted at the end of the day? Any educator will tell you the job is tough because they want to meet every child’s needs and do the best for all of their students. So let’s revisit who is doing most of the work. In this module consider the subtle shifts you can make in your classroom to support students moving into the driver’s seat and taking ownership of their learning.
What Are The Benefits of Self-Aware Learners? (Learner Profiles) Who and what tells the story of a learner? Many may offer surveys and learning style inventories and while both serve as gentle entry points, Learner Profiles are intended to leverage much more. Let’s revisit the process we often use to learn more about our students; then flip that on its head and challenge our thinking. Discover the benefits of being self-aware and how that lives inside Learner Profiles. This module will ask you to rethink and explore the common missing piece in the traditional process of getting to know our learners---the student.
Making Sense of Learning Pathways Learning Pathways drive personalized learning---Learning Pathways with student ownership, design the car that students then speed off in to travel to their own destination. Here is an introduction to what learning pathways are and how they differ from the traditional one-size-fits-all instruction. You will explore the process behind developing a pathway and bring to life the structures that will support implementation.
Learning Anytime, Anywhere (Flexible Learning Environments) Now more than ever, our students need the skills, tools and empowerment to learn anytime, and anywhere! A flexible learning environment first requires a flexible mindset. How flexible are you with the idea of schedules, pacing, and grading? This module will ask you to look beyond the barriers you face and push your thinking to consider the possibilities of what you have control over.
