Is there a certain order that I should go in with the Self-Paced professional learning or resources?

There is not a specific order; however, each professional development option serves a different purpose with entry points based on your unique needs. Offerings are wide open depending on your school or district's goals. Contact a Coach if you need more help determining the best entry point.

If I am just getting started, or my school is getting started, where should I begin?

Typically we would suggest that a person, team, or a school should start with our Framework Foundation series if they are “new” to student-centered practices, or interested in doing some level setting around “what we want school to be like for our learners.” The One Point Rubric contains “I can” statements that represent the learning in each module. You could do a quick self-assessment using the One Point Rubric to determine where you, or your school is in your current practices and see if this opportunity is the right starting point for you. If you are a leader, you could have a small group of teachers, or your whole staff do this self-assessment to see where each of them are in their practices.

Is this professional development created for whole schools or small groups?

All of the above. It depends on your context and what your team of educators may need. If you are a school leader, you may decide it is more appropriate to have a small group of educators, possibly your innovators, begin engaging in our professional development first. Then later, it could grow into a whole school endeavor. Or, if your whole school is ready to dive in, then you may select to approach our professional development as a whole school while personalizing to meet a variety of needs.

How will I know if the professional development option I select is the right fit for me?

Ponder these questions to guide your selection: What do I currently believe about teaching and learning? What does student ownership look like and sound like? What am I currently doing that connects to student-centered practices as described in the SC Personalized, Competency-Based Learning Framework? Then, take some time to use our One Point Rubrics to self-assess:
